Day 8Manuel Antonio / Quepos – Pacífico Sur Y Corcovado

We set off early toward the far south of the country along the Costanera Sur highway, which skirts kilometers of Pacific beaches and palm plantations, to the picturesque riverside town of Sierpe. There we board a boat to venture into the imposing mangroves of the Sierpe River —the most extensive mangrove system on the Central American Pacific coast—, where crocodiles, herons, ibises and white-faced monkeys peek out among the roots. The journey ends crossing the river mouth out to the open sea, with the silhouette of the Osa Peninsula outlined on the horizon, until landing at Bahía Drake: the threshold of one of the last great refuges of pristine nature on the planet. Here lies Corcovado National Park, which National Geographic described as "the most biologically intense place on Earth" —in barely 0.03% of the world's surface it concentrates close to 2.5% of its biodiversity—. The rest of the day is free to acclimatize to the rhythm of the jungle and the sound of the sea. From the Sierpe dock we board a boat for the final stretch of the journey: a sailing of approximately one hour through the mangroves of the Sierpe River and its mouth onto the open sea, until landing at Bahía Drake, in the heart of the Osa Peninsula.

Day 9South Pacific and Corcovado — Hiking to Corcovado National Park

Full-day excursion to Corcovado National Park (San Pedrillo or Sirena station, depending on your lodge). Guided hike through primary rainforest trails in search of the country's four monkey species, tapirs, peccaries, coatis, and macaws, with the possibility of spotting jaguar tracks. Includes boat transportation, naturalist guide, and lunch.

Day 10South Pacific and Corcovado — Snorkeling at Isla del Caño

Navigation to Isla del Caño Biological Reserve, one of Costa Rica's premier snorkeling destinations: crystalline waters, coral reefs, sea turtles, rays, and schools of tropical fish. Dolphins are commonly spotted en route, and humpback whales during season. Includes transportation, snorkeling equipment, and lunch.

Day 11San José

In the morning, after breakfast, departure by boat from Bahía Drake back to Sierpe, navigating once more among the mangroves of the Sierpe River. Free day to explore the capital: visit the National Theater, the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, the Central Market with its varied cuisine, or stroll through the historic neighborhoods of Barrio Amón and Escalante.

Day 12SJO Airport

Private transfer from your hotel to Juan Santamaría International Airport at the time indicated for your return flight. Approximate duration 30 minutes.
