Let Don Gilberto and his family show you the real Costa Rica on horseback! Once on the way you will begin a natural history adventure, beginning with the history of the Quepos Indians that will take you through the historical changes of the Manuel Antonio area. They will enjoy learning about the exotic plants and wildlife of Costa Rica while riding through a tropical jungle and through the private ecological reserve of “Rancho en Tocori”, just a few minutes from Quepos – Manuel Antonio.
After a relaxing 1-hour horseback ride through the tropical rain forest, with the pace defined by your comfort level and horseback riding aptitude, let your horses guide you along the trails while Don Gilberto or his daughter Dyalá lead you through the trails. sample the exotic flora and fauna on a short nature walk. They will make them taste, smell, touch and observe first hand the real Costa Rica. After indulging your mind and spirit with expert knowledge, you'll enjoy soaking in the natural mountain waters as you are splashed by two fabulous waterfalls. Also, don't forget to enjoy the unforgettable taste of fresh fruit and tropical juices, made exclusively by Doña Eli, Don Gilberto's wife, all this while resting and cooling off on the edge of a splendid waterfall.
After freshening up, you'll be ready for a horseback ride through meandering streams and streams to the ranch, where Doña Eli will be your hostess as she shares a “casado” (typical Costa Rican dish) or BBQ with you. Before returning to Manuel Antonio, enjoy one last relaxing experience (free time) of the abundance of what Costa Rica has to offer at the Ranch. Let Don Gilberto or Daylá show you around their private herb and spice garden, helping to educate locals and visitors on how to preserve the indigenous varieties of plants and herbs of this beautiful area. With their help and knowledge, you can help conserve the tropical rainforest and educate others about the true beauty of Costa Rica.
