The Caño Negro wildlife refuge is considered one of the richest sites on the continent for bird watching. Apart from an abundance of birds, Caño Negro is also a refuge for many other animals, such as: sloths, three types of monkeys, alligators, lizards, bats, and a variety of flora typical of the wetlands. Our trip to this beautiful region leaves from La Fortuna, transporting us by minibus for an hour and a half to Los Chiles, a rustic town that is only five kilometers from the border with Nicaragua, and it is here where we board the boat to take a tour of the bed of the river Frío for approximately three hours. From the beginning of the trip, our professional guide will explain about the crops that we will see along the way, as well as the flora and fauna of the region.
