The first sugar mill arrived in Monteverde in 1948. The trip was made in oxen carts to the area we know today as Santa Elena and it took approximately 15 days to arrive. This Experience allows you to walk through the plantations of sugar cane, coffee and various typical crops of the area. But this is just the beginning. You will also learn about the processes of coffee and chocolate, and you will be able to experience them from the fruit where you start.

You will have fun with the typical Costa Rican cart, as you will witness how the farmers used to transport their crops. On our tour, you can go to the 'saca de guaro' where you can see how the liquor was made. Finally, it can be part of the process of creating sugarcane candies and the one that adds the final ingredient.

The tour ends at the place where the artisan sugar cane sweet is made. Various derivatives are made (panela, perica or traditional Costa Rican sobado and caramel).

After doing the sugar cane tour, we will do the coffee tour where, during the tour, we will see all the processes that coffee takes, from the seed to the delicious final product, the cup of coffee.

This is a unique experience, as you get to know the best of Costa Rican culture in Monteverde. Duration of the experience 2 hours.
